If your machine is running with less power than before, the working speed has decreased, or the machine does not perform as efficiently as it normally does, the problem may be related to the carbon brushes, armature, or gear system. In some cases, excessive sparking may also be visible through the ventilation openings.
1. The Carbon Brushes Are Worn Out
When the carbon brushes become excessively worn, they may not maintain proper contact with the armature. This can cause reduced motor power, unstable operation, unusual noise, or visible sparks through the ventilation openings.
Solution:
Check the carbon brushes for excessive wear or damage. If they are worn beyond the recommended service limit, replace them with new carbon brushes of the correct specification. It is recommended to replace both carbon brushes at the same time to ensure stable motor performance.
2. The Armature May Be Partially Burnt or Damaged
A partially burnt or damaged armature can cause the motor to lose power and operate inefficiently. Common signs include reduced speed, weak output, excessive sparking, unusual noise, or a burning smell during operation.
Solution:
Inspect the armature for burning marks, discoloration, damaged commutator segments, or abnormal wear. If the armature is partially burnt or seriously damaged, replace it with a new one. The carbon brushes should also be checked at the same time.
3. The Gear Set May Be Worn or Damaged
If the machine has reduced working performance but there is no obvious sparking through the ventilation openings, the gear system may be worn or damaged. Worn gears can reduce power transmission efficiency and may cause abnormal noise, vibration, or reduced output.
Solution:
Inspect the gear set for worn teeth, broken teeth, deformation, or other visible damage. If the gears are significantly worn or damaged, replace the gear set. If necessary, also inspect the armature, as the armature and gears may become worn together.
Important:
Always disconnect the machine from the power supply before inspection, maintenance, or replacement of any components. Do not continue using the machine if you notice excessive sparking, a burning smell, abnormal noise, or severe vibration.
